INTRODUCTION TO HORSE AND PONY KNOWLEDGE & CARE
Suitable for anyone age 10 or above including adults who would like to learn the basics of horse and pony care and develop practical skills here at our stables. No previous experience required, just some enthusiasm and a love of horses and ponies! Refreshment available.
4 sessions will run Sunday mornings from 10.30am – 12pm. £20 per person per session. You can attend all 4 sessions or pick and choose.
- Sunday 6th September - Getting to know your horse or pony to include learning about, breeds, colours, points of the horse and confirmation. Basic handling and safety around the stables.
- Sunday 27th September – Daily care of a horse or pony to ensure good welfare, to include learning about feeding, mucking out and other essential tasks.
- Sunday 4th October– Grooming and health care to include recognising signs of good and poor health. Preventative health care such as vaccinations and worming.
- Sunday 25th October– Tack, rugs and equipment. Learn to identify basic items of saddlery in general use and how to fit and care for them. Understand the importance of ensuring every horse or pony is comfortable and saddlery is in good repair to ensure safety.
Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing to participate in this activity, sturdy boots or wellies will be required along with warm, waterproof clothing and gloves are essential for some tasks. Please bring your own riding hat if you have one but we do have some available to borrow, as will be required for some horse handling tasks.

Term time weekday parent and child groups
Re -starting Tuesday 8th September 2026 (but will run a group over the summer if there is demand)
Term time weekday parent and child groups. Come and spend time with our gorgeous ponies in a safe, relaxing environment where your child can play and learn with lots of different topics and help from our brilliant soft toy “crafty ponies” and their accessories. Parents to stay and get involved in our relaxed and sociable setting with hot drinks provided! Each session will be a little different and most will include a short ride, crafting, colouring etc.
Minimum age 2, £15 per session per child. Every Tuesday morning during term time 9.30am - 10.30am . (We need a minimum of children to run)
If you would like to bring your own closed, private group (perhaps for home educating families that already belong to a little group or childminders) do get in touch as we can run more sessions. Riding
*Please note the price of our 20 minute ride will increase slightly from the 1st September to £25 per session. Regular riders can still save by using our token package as below.*
Riding sessions for kids aged 2-8 booked with an individual member of staff but may ride within a small group. Involves a walkabout and arena activities, ideal introduction to riding or as a regular activity (available all year round)
For those that book regular 20 minute riding sessions with us you can buy a token package for 4 x 20 minute sessions to benefit from a saving of £1 per session. Weekday riders can save £2 per sessions. (Click on tokens from account home page)

Ideal for a special treat, your child spends 10 minutes grooming, 20 minutes riding (walkabout and arena activities) and takes home a Pony Magic Rosette or Medal.

Available to more experienced Shetland riders (grade 2) ready to come off the lead rein with Instructor Julia (following assessment) this will be a 30 minute lesson in our arena.

We continue to offer our fun and simple progress scheme (optional to all recognising the achievements of our little riders and helping them to progress in logical steps to more advanced riding and pony care when they are older. There is a one off fee to register and we can work with children during a normal 20 minute session collecting stickers for each of the 5 levels to earn rosettes and certificates!
You can also have fun learning at home, email for our great new fact sheets featuring your favourite ponies!
To register – when booking riding sessions you can select Progress Scheme to add to your basket at the checkout. Please ask a member of staff to collect your child’s sticker chart when you visit.
GIFT VOUCHERS –
can be purchased via the online booking system to the value of your choice. Please note gift vouchers expire after 3 months.

When you purchase a voucher you will be emailed a code and printable voucher, which can be redeemed against any of our activities.
