Meet Our Horses & Ponies

DINKY
Dinky was the very first Pony Magic Shetland to come along and is a firm favourite with so many children that have met him all around Hampshire and beyond. Dinky is also the smallest of our ponies and is described as a miniature Shetland being only 8hh!
He is now 23 years old and palomino in colour. During the summer months he has a shiny golden coat and white mane and tail but is a much lighter colour in his winter coat. Loves carrots and cuddles but hates walking through big puddles! Look around the website to see lots of Dinky pictures.

CHARLIE
Charlie is Dinky’s best friend and they have travelled many miles together to various events and parties.
Charlie is 23 years old, a very handsome black pony, he never seems to get flustered even at the busiest event and is very patient and kind with the most nervous of children who will be smiling in no time. Charlie is a larger Shetland pony at 10.2hh.

DAISY
One of our smaller ponies she stands around 34″ tall. Her colour is bay (brown with black mane and tail) and she is 28 (now retired) years old making her our oldest pony. Daisy is the gentlest pony you could ever meet, she has been with us for many years now loves to hang out with Spot and she also has the longest mane! She is also very patient with children just learning to ride by themselves.

SPOT
One of our original ponies Spot joined the Pony Magic gang back in 2009 and loves a cuddle with everyone! He is 22 years old and is around 10hh. We get asked all the time why he is called Spot? (Not to be confused with Ludo who does actually have spots!) In the winter he is fluffy and grey but when he is wearing his sleek summer coat (or clipped) the black spots on his skin are quite visible especially under his tummy when he rolls over which he likes to do as often as possible especially in the mud and when pretending to be a magical unicorn………can you find a picture of him taking part in a pantomime?

ARCHIE
Full of character and a rich dark brown almost black colour, Archie is 19 years old and has been with us since he was a 4 year old. He is always full of energy in fact we think he would be great in the Shetland pony Grand National as he loves to jump and race around! He is one of our larger Shetland ponies at about 41″ high and is great for some of our more experienced pony magic riders as he responds nicely off the lead rein.

ROSIE
Is actually a Dartmoor hill pony , Rosie is grey around 11.2hh and 19 years old. She is a lovely kind pony but be careful when tied up ready to ride she can slip the headcollar off over her ears and off she goes to find some juicy grass. Best buddies with Archie although a little too lazy to keep up with him!

SOLDIER
A gorgeous bright bay New Forest pony, Soldier is 13.2hh and 25 years old but hangs out with the bigger horses and ponies, he is very special and now out grown by my youngest daughter. They had many fun adventures together. Soldier is a great schoolmaster pony and available for limited riding sessions per week for children aged 8-14.

SPIKE
Spike was one of the original ponies bought in 2009 and now aged 25! Owned for many years by a good friend but very much part of the gang here at Pony Magic, he is a multi talented pony. A striking skewbald pony, he is very cheeky sometimes but brilliant for little ones to learn on and enjoys keeping busy!

LUDO AND BEANIE
Kindly on loan to us Beanie and Ludo have been part of the team here at Pony Magic since spring 2024. They are both Dartmoor Hill ponies around 11 years old that have been with their owner since coming off the moors at weaning (around 6 months old). Beanie is a skewbald mare (girl) and Ludo is a spotted gelding (boy). They are both very loveable and cuddly, around 11.2hh they are great for our slightly older riders.
